Dorothea Wierer won the Mass Start competition during the Italian stage of the IBU World Cup, held in Antholz from 20 to 23 January.
After the first medal of the season in Ruhpolding, the Italian event opened with the most optimistic expectations for the Italian biathlon team, which can count on the performances of the Fiocchi Munizioni Biathlon line at the shooting range.
The first days ended with some good results: Dorothea Wierer reached the 5th place in the Individual competition, Lukas Hofer finished the Mass Start at the 9th place, the Women Relay composed by Vittozzi, Wierer, Comola and San Filippo came fourth.
The last day of races gave the thrill that everyone was waiting for: the local hero Dorothea Wierer won the Mass Start in her own way, crossing the finish line with her arms raised, climbing on the first step of the podium. The Italian missed only two targets and made up for the mistakes with a super performance on the skis that lead her to the gold medal, the 13th in her World Cup career.
“I’m very happy for this victory - said Wierer at the end of the race - I was a little tired but I gained confidence lap after lap, shot after shot, thanks to the Fiocchi ammo which are always a guarantee”.
“Congratulations to Dotothea for this new victory that confirms her as the Queen of the Italian Biathlon - said Daniele Palmieri, Fiocchi Chief Marketing & Commercial Officer - We are sure that her talent and her determination can make the difference during the next Olympic Games in Beijing. Good luck to her and to the whole Italian national team”.
