A respectable debut opened the season of Fiocchi Team in Mexico, where the first stage of the 2018 ISSF World Cup Series took place at the Club Cinegetico Jalisciense in Guadalajara.
The competition opened a crucial season, in which the first set of Olympic quota places for Tokyo 2020 will be up for grabs.
Italy’s Emanuele Buccolieri and Finland’s Vesa Tornroos were the first shooters to climb on the podium, respectively pocketing silver and bronze in the men’s Trap final, and both winning the first World Cup medal of their career.
Tornroos also turned out to be the star of the Trap Mixed Team event, the latest event added to the Olympic Programme: the Finnish shooter shot consistently, securing the brightest medal and confirming his wonderful.
Finally, Fiocchi Team’s fourth medal was signed by Italy’s Tammaro Cassandro on the final competition day: returning to his 2016-form, indeed, the 24-year-old shot greatly, finishing with 49 hits out of 50 targets and the bronze medal around his neck.
With the first competition in the books, the international shooting sport scene moves now to Sydney (AUS), where the first ISSF Junior World Cup of the season will take place from the 19th to the 29th of March.
